Dr Gentry is a Tennessee native who born and raised in Gainesboro, TN. He founded Tennessee River Nephrology and Hypertension to deliver state of the art renal care to the patients of East Tennessee. Dr. Gentry graduated from Ross University School of Medicine in 2013 with High Honors. After this, he completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Kentucky where he was selected among his peers to serve as chief resident. During his time as chief resident at UK, Dr. Gentry served as a teaching attending on the internal medicine wards for residents and medical students and gained administrative experience through his involvement with program leadership.
After completion of his residency, he continued his education with a fellowship in nephrology and hypertension at Vanderbilt University. Here, he was again selected for leadership and was honored to be chief fellow in his final year. He has conducted research in many areas of nephrology including renal osteodystrophy and transplant care. Dr. Gentry has presented at multiple national conferences and routinely participates in the education of medical students and nurses.
In his free time, Dr. Gentry enjoys spending time with his family, including three children and two German Shepherds. The family enjoys camping, fishing, and cheering on the vols!
